KPJ Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital (KPJPGSH) has been awarded the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) Award from Ministry of Health, Malaysia on 6 August 2017.
The BFHI Award was presented by Dr Izam Sulaiman, Deputy Director of Health (Medical Division) representing Johor State Health Director to hospital’s BFHI Chairperson cum Resident Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Dr Nik Azrita Dato' Haji Ariffin and witnessed by its Medical Director, Dr Ab Razak Samsudin.
This remarkable milestone is the results of the hospital-wide continuous efforts by the hospital for being actively involved in supporting, encouraging and implementing knowledge and promoting breastfeeding campaigns among customers and the community.
In conjunction with the World Breastfeeding Week 2018,  the hospital has recently organised activities to promote on the importance of breastfeeding, Parent craft Class (Antenatal Class), providing expectant mothers with further information and tips on what happens during labour and birth which is also beneficial to couples' transitions to parenthood.
Also present, Dr Eliza Mohd Noor, a television personality from the My Doctor's Programme who gave a talk on Myths & Facts of Breastfeeding Moms. About 100 guests attended the event whilst Puan Faizuhazreen Jamsari, Lactation Counsellor also gave a group counselling on breastfeeding.
